The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has officially conferred degrees on 200 undergraduate and postgraduate graduates during two November conferring ceremonies held at its historic campus on St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. The morning ceremony celebrated 99 undergraduate graduates from full-time programmes in Medicine, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy. Degrees awarded included MB, BCh, BAO, LRCP & SI, as well as BSc qualifications in healthcare disciplines.

During the afternoon ceremony, 101 postgraduate candidates were conferred with Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees. These included Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates in Health Professions Education and Human Factors in Patient Safety, along with Master of Surgery (MCh) and higher research degrees such as MSc, MD, and PhD. Additional awards were presented in Healthcare Ethics & Law and Patient Safety.

Professor Cathal Kelly congratulated the graduates on their achievements, highlighting the ceremonies as recognition of years of academic commitment and professional dedication. He emphasised the graduates’ shared mission to advance healthcare practice, research, and patient safety worldwide, and welcomed them into the global RCSI alumni network.

Celebrations commenced with a conferring dinner for pharmacy and physiotherapy undergraduates and higher degree candidates from the School of Postgraduate Studies. The event, attended by over 130 graduates and guests, took place in the College Hall. At the dinner, RCSI President Professor John Hyland announced the recipients of the President’s Teaching Awards for Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.

The November conferring ceremonies will conclude with two further events for graduates from the School of Nursing & Midwifery and Master’s programmes on Thursday, 17 November, at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). These ceremonies will be live-streamed on the RCSI website. During the event, an Honorary Doctorate will be conferred on Professor Áine Hyland, Emeritus Professor of Education, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to higher education.

Health Minister attends RCSI graduation ceremony

Manama, June 26 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has deputised Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, to attend the graduation ceremony of the 10th batch of the Nursing and Midwifery School students and those of the Postgraduate Studies and Research School students of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), held today at the premises of RCSI-Bahrain in Muharraq.

A total of 85 students specialised in various nursing disciplines graduated from RCSI Bahrain this year.

The minister conveyed congratulations from HRH the Prime Minister, the ceremony’s patron, to the graduates, as well as his wishes of further success to them.

She lauded the Prime Minister’s patronage of the Conferring Ceremony, stressing that the kind gesture reflects HRH Premier’s keenness to ensure that Bahrainis receive distinguished medical and health education from a prestigious college, such as RCSI, Join RCSI Alumni Network Membership Online  

The minister highlighted the government’s interest in the health sector, as part of its strategy aiming to develop Bahraini medical competencies through providing them with quality education and training, according to the latest international methods, which, she said, will consolidate the government’s capabilities in providing outstanding health and medical care for the citizens and residents.

Al-Saleh lauded the role played by the RCSI in providing the medical sector in the kingdom with highly qualified graduates thanks to its leading and world-class expertise and medical competencies, which, she affirmed, supports Bahrain’s efforts to develop the health sector, and contributes to maintaining its prestigious regional and international reputation in the fields of medical treatment and health care.

The minister expressed her deep pride in the graduation of a new batch of students who chose the medical profession as a noble humanitarian one.

She extended deepest congratulations to the graduates for their dedication and outstanding academic achievements, wishing them success in enhancing the medical sector in the kingdom.

RCSI Dubai Confers Degrees on 72 Graduates at Annual Ceremony

RCSI Dubai has awarded 72 graduates with master’s degrees and postgraduate diplomas during its annual conferring ceremony, held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai. Certificates were presented by Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marking a significant milestone for the graduates.

The graduating cohort represented a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including consultants, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, health managers, educators, laboratory technicians, and allied healthcare professionals. Graduates came from a wide variety of public and private healthcare organisations across the region.

A total of 35 graduates were conferred with an MSc in Healthcare Management, while 21 graduates received an MSc in Quality and Safety in Healthcare Management. A further 12 graduates were awarded an MSc in Leadership in Health Professions Education, and four candidates received postgraduate diplomas.

Commenting on the occasion, Professor Ciaran O’Boyle, Director of the Institute of Leadership, described the ceremony as a highlight of the academic year. He noted the importance of developing capable healthcare leaders and expressed pride in seeing graduates contribute to the continued advancement of healthcare in the United Arab Emirates.
